The Senior Center does not provide meals as part of its program, but does provide some meals at specific locations.
- On Thursdays at SwimRVA, meals are available to pre-assessed members (assessed through Senior Connections) for Friendship Cafe sandwich meals. Meals are order two weeks in advance. Registration for this meal is essential To be assessed, contact the Senior Center office and ask for an assessment.
- Light meals are provided at Battery Park. Members may be asked to donate toward the cost of these meals. Donations are always welcome, starting October 1st, we will ask for at lest a $2 donation for each meal. If you require a special diet, we do ask that you bring your own lunch. If requested, we can preorder a vegetarian/vegan meal only at Battery Park.
- Lunches may be served at Brookdale Imperial Plaza at the Healthy YOU presentation. Vegetarian meals can be preordered. Donations are accepted and may be requested at future events.
- Just Breakfast and Simply Lunch events are member hosted and planned events at a specified restaurant in which members may participate. Members are responsible for their own meal, tax, and tip.
Nutrition and cooking classes are often included in our program schedule to assist members in learning about foods, nutrition and food preparation. Members are encouraged to make healthy choices when they eat, knowing that if they practice eating healthy over period of time, they will incorporate those healthy habits into their daily lives. Classes are often facilitated by members, staff and volunteers who are not medical, nutrition or food service professionals.
